Tips to help you stay on track

  • Day 1 is going to be bad. Know that and get comfortable with that fact. Days 2 & 3 might feel the same way, depending on how toxic your body is. I recommend you start on a weekend so you can stay in bed all day and hide out if that's what you feel you need to do. No need to put yourself out there in the world with tons of temptation or with a cranky attitude in tow.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water in-between juices/meals to help flush toxins out and stay hydrated. Your body needs water to do its work & break down the vitamins & minerals you're getting from the fruits and veggies.
  • Never let yourself get hungry because you'll want that pasta in the fridge more than your juice. BUT once you fill up on your juice, you probably won't want what you shouldn't be having anymore. I guarantee you.
  • To help myself cope mentally, because your success will really be 90% mental IMO, I made a list of the things I thought I wanted or that my body was craving. Every time something popped into my head, I'd jot it down and tell myself that if I still wanted it at the end of the juice fast, I could have it then. That way, I convinced myself to wait just a little bit longer to have it, which made the urge to seek it out very, very weak. Give it a try and see how it works for you. At Day 1 post-juice fast, guess how many of those things I actually still want. (ZERO.)
  • Don't undo the good you're doing by sabotaging yourself. If you have to leave the room while your family or friends are enjoying one of your favorite meals, then do it. Shut off the radio or tv to get rid of images that will kill your will power.
  • Have a plan in mind if you're caught out and run out of or don't have your juice. (ie Panera or Cozi for a salad, or stop in to the grocery store and pick up a piece of fruit to snack on, for example) Seek out raw food in place of your juice in a pinch. Something is better than nothing and the closer to stay to fresh fruits and veggies, the better.
  • Celebrate your completion & congratulate yourself when you reach the end, even if you fell off the wagon at any point. The fact that you got right back on and saw it through is what matters.
